Morning Mountain - Essáy

Morning Mountain by ESSÁY.

Following closely on the heels of his free EP for the newly minted Cut imprint, German producer Essáy has dropped another free track, "Morning Mountain." The new tune, an imaginative edit of Rhian Sheehan's "Borrowing From the Past," appeared on the producer's Soundcloud yesterday tagged with simple words, like "sun," "fog," "feelings," "lazy," "rain," and so on. Those seemingly vague and contradictory descriptors become more appropriate after a few listens of "Morning Mountain"; the song is left wide open for interpretation. It's entirely up to you whether the droning chords and twinkling melodies are a blissful exercise in subdued techno, or a solemn reflection in loss and longing. But no matter where the track takes you emotionally, there is no question as to the impeccable production quality with which Essáy's small-but-impressive catalog is characterized by: there are enough finely detailed elements delicately tucked below the warm, bellowing core of "Moving Mountains" to keep this one enjoyable for spin after spin.
